An underground leak can go unnoticed for months. Water is lost into the ground, bills creep up and pressure drops, often with no visible sign at all. We investigate suspected underground leaks using specialist equipment and proven methods to pinpoint where the problem is.
Our aim is to locate the leak while minimising unnecessary excavation. The more accurately a leak is found, the smaller the hole, the lower the cost and the less disruption to your driveway or garden.
What our leak detection covers
- Underground water leak detection
- Tracking and tracing buried water supply pipes
- Acoustic listening equipment to pinpoint the sound of escaping water
- Investigating unexplained water loss
- Locating leaks beneath driveways, gardens and pathways
- Excavation and repairs where required
Signs you may have an underground leak
- Higher water bills on a metered supply, with no change in how you use water
- Low water pressure or poor flow that has got worse over time
- Wet or soft patches in the garden, or damp areas on a drive or path that don't dry out
- The water meter keeps moving when every tap is turned off
- Your water supplier has told you there's a leak on your private supply pipe
What happens next
Once we've found the leak, we'll explain what we've found and your options. Often a localised supply pipe repair is all that's needed. If the pipe is old or in poor condition throughout, a replacement supply pipe may be the better long-term answer, and in many cases it can be installed by hydraulic moling with minimal digging.
